Pete attended Bonners Ferry High School. He married Lola Tofte on Feb. 18, 1967, in Bonners Ferry; Lola passed away on Sept. 24, 1997.
Pete served in the U.S. Army 508th Airborne Association affiliated with the 82nd Airborne during the Korean Conflict and the Vietnam War; he was honored with a purple heart. Pete served as a career veteran; he retired in 1978.
Pete was a member of the VFW. He loved and enjoyed hunting and fishing and the ourdoors.
Pete is survived by his son Phillip Bourassa of Glasgow, KY.; his adopted daughter Tammy Southwick of Bonners Ferry; his very special friends Phil and Michelle Walker of Mullan; his siter Georgie Ann DeBoie of Hermiston, Ore.; his step-children James, Michael, William, Mary, Verna and David Love and Pattie Whitson all of the greater Tacoma, Wash. area.
He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife Lola, a son Anthonny "Tony" Bourassa, a sister Frankie Messenbrink and a brother Roger Bourassa.
Cremation will be held with inurnment taking place at the Fort Lewis Cemetery in Washington. A Celebration of Pete's Life will be held at 2 p.m. on Pete's birthday, Monday May 19, at the Outlaw Bar and Grill.
