Charles W. Hermon, a well-known resident of Winterset for many years, died at his home here Sunday, Dec. 16 at the age of 77 years.

Mr. Hermon was a life-long resident of Madison county. He was born here Nov. 13, 1874. On Oct. 14, 1899, he was married to Grace Mabel Debord, who preceded him in death.

He is survived by nine children, Mrs. Esther Pritchard of Winterset, Mrs. Dora Hulbert of Earlham, Mrs. Gretchen Wagner of Waterloo, Edward J. Hermon of Winterset, Wesley Hermon of West Des Moines, Max Hermon of Sioux City, Mrs. Mary Rhodes of Wyoming, Ia., Betty Hermon of Winterset, and Mrs. Virginia Noennick of Moravia, Calif. He also leaves 12 grandchildren and six great grandchildren.

Funeral services were held Tuesday from the Richards Funeral home in charge of the Rev. Layton Anderson. Burial was made in the Winterset cemetery.
