DOLORES PIONEER DIES THANKSGIVING AT PHOENIX HOME
Al Hatfield, longtime resident of this area, passed away at his home in Phoenix, Arizona Thursday, Nov. 26, after an extended illness.
Mr. Hatfield was well known here having worked for many years for the Montezuma Valley Irrigation Company. In 1945 he and his wife moved to Phoenix where he worked as a carpenter until ill health forced him to retire in 1956.
Alfred C. Hatfield was born at Morristown, Okla., Dec 3., 1900, and moved to Colorado at the age of 14 years. He resided in this area until 1945 when he moved to Phoenix.
He is survived by his wife Susan; two daughters, Veva McEwen of Dolores and Alfreda Dunn of Chandler, Ariz.; one son, Larry of Phoenix; two sisters, Mrs. Pearl Wilson of Cortez and Mrs. Blanche Kaser of Egbert, Wyo., and seven grandchildren.
Funeral services were held in Phoenix from the Mercer Mortuary with Dr. Ivan Bell of the First Baptist Church officiating. Interment was made in the Memory Lawn Cemetery
