Palma was the daughter of Edmund Lashley and Mary Lorena (Bullard) Lashley.
She married Hiram Bembry on September 5, 1905, in Hamilton County, Florida.
Together, Hiram and Palma had ten children: seven boys, and three girls: Edgar, Maggie, Jessie Mae, Willard, John Allen, Payton, Marvin (Shug), Henry, Evelyn Lois, and Hiram Jr. Two girls, Jesse and Evelyn died as babies. A son, Willard, also died young. His wife, Pauline, died soon afterward, leaving Hiram and Palma with two young grandchildren whom they raised as their own.
