Fred W. Riedel, 69, a pioneer resident of this area, died at 1:15 p.m. Sunday at St. Joseph's Hospital, where he had been a patient since Dec. 22. He resided at 167 S. Central Ave.
Mr. Riedel was born Feb. 17, 1885, in Nasonville, where he received his education and was married to Christine Hansen on June 10, 1907. The couple lived in Nasonville until 1918, spent the next nine years at Morris, Minn., and then moved to Marshfield.
Mr. Riedel was a member of the First Presbyterian Church and was employed by the Roddis Plywood Corporation for 15 years.
He is survived by his wife, four sons, Ellsworth and Lyle Riedel, both of route 2, Dancy, and LaVern and Marvin Riedel, both of Marshfield; five daughters, Mrs. Keith (Nancy) Rustad, Mrs. Dorothy Tilton, Mrs. lone Berg and Mrs. John (Margaret) Christy, all of Marshfield, and Mrs. Roman (Betty) Lauby, Milwaukee; four sisters, Mrs. Harlow (Clara) Sherman, Marshfield, Mrs. Arthur (Susie) Madsen and Mrs. Earl (Emma) Sherman, Wisconsin Rapids, and Mrs. Emil (Elsie) Lundstrom, Minneapolis, 17 grandchildren and one great-grandchild.
Two brothers died in infancy. Another brother, Ferdinand, and a sister, Mrs. Hattie Nason, also preceded him in death.
The body will repose at the Hansen Funeral Home from this evening until Wednesday noon, when it will be taken to the First Presbyterian Church, where funeral services will be conducted at 1:30 p.m. The Rev. Douglas P. Oyan will officiate and burial will take place in the Nasonville cemetery.
