Maxine was the daughter of Eva and Clinton Braithwaite, born with her twin, Maurine. She married Rex in 1942, in Preston, Nevada. Their vows were later solemnized in the Manti LDS Temple. They lived in Boston, Massachusetts, then moved to McGill and Ely Nevada, finally settling in Ogden in 1963.

Maxine worked for the Bon Marche in Ogden, Water Works, and the IRS, where her retirement party was one of the biggest and best ever. She was well known for her practical jokes, and everyone loved her who knew her. She was gregarious and loved fun, and taught her girls the same.

Maxine was a member of Beta Sigma Phi, as well as Cosmopolitan and Women's Business Association. She also served many church callings.

At the time of her death, Maxine was survived by three daughters, eight grandchildren, nine great-grandchildren, and extended family. She was preceded in death by her husband, daughter Josie, and her parents.
