Bacon Thieves at Work Again, A Powder Keg Explosion
Falls Mills, Va., March 6-
Thieves entered the smokehouse of Joseph Shannon, on Bluestone on Saturday night, and took about four hundred pounds of bacon hams, then loaded them on his horses and took it as far as Elgin Tabors, on Mud Fork, where they turned Mr. Shannon's horses loose and took Mr. Tabor's, which they released at Flat Top Yards. The thieves are still at large.
(I believe Joseph Shannon to be Jospeh B. Shannon, father of Laura Elizabeth Shannon who married Charles J. Hale and then they had a daughter, Virginia B. "Jennie" Hale who married Grover William Wagner-the s/o James Henry Wagner & Cassie Ellen Belcher.

Buried in the Wexler Tabor Cemetery app. 1 1/2 miles from Route 643 in a remote site downhill on an old lane south of where the old Wexler Tabor School once stood on the Mud Fork, Tazewell Co, VA., Road. The improved entry is on top of the hill east of the Solomom P. "Sol" Tabor, Sr., homeplace (where the paved road turns into a dirt road that meanders down the hill in one direction and up and over the hill in another direction).

There is also a grave for a Winford E.Tabor who was b. 1887 and d. 1888. I do not know whose child this was.

"Aunt Cynthia made her wedding clothes and for all of uncle Elgin's girls too. Aunt Cynthia was a good seamstress. She would stay a week or two with a family and sew all the time she was there. She did not get married until she was 48." *
