Mr. Ballentine was born in Irmo, a son of the late Malcolm and Mattie Koon Ballentine.
He was a member of North Trenholm Baptist Church, a veteran of World War II and a member of Arcadia Lodge 94 AFM.
Surviving are his widow, Mrs. Ena Trussell Ballentine; two sons; Charles Douglas Ballentine of Atlanta and Dennis Carroll Ballentine of Greenville; a sister, Mrs. Margaret Coogler of Irmo; four brothers; James and Charles Ballentine of Irmo, Alva Ray Ballentine of Charleston and Omeral Ballentine of Columbia, and a grandson.
Services will be at 2 p. m. today in Dunbar Funeral Home, Devine Street Chapel, conducted by the Rev. Robert F. Gabriel. Burial will be in Crescent Hill Memorial Gardens.
Pallbearers will be William H. Morris, Leo Kerscher, A. R. Mattox, Fred M. Harmon, L. C. Floyd, Carlton Floyd, Johnny Weathersbee and Grover E. Davis.
