Allen N. "Cowboy" Chancellor, 78, of Buckner, Missouri, passed away, Friday, April 25, 2014 at Research Medical Center in Kansas City, Missouri after a brief illness. He was born April 6, 1936 in Warsaw, Missouri the son of the late George and Myrtle (Woirhaye) Chancellor. On June 17, 1966 he was united in marriage to Harriett Lockard Anderson in Wheatland, Missouri who survives at the home.

Cowboy was a 1954 graduate of Warsaw High School. He retired from the United State Postal Service, was a mechanic and drove a truck for Daniels McCray Lumber Yard and also worked for General Motors in Kansas City for over 10 years.

He was an avid racer and consummate promoter of dirt track racing. His first race car was an old 1962 Dodge Police Cruiser displaying the number 20. Throughout his long racing career, he mostly drove his #45 dirt late model race car. He took a brief stint as a dirt modified racer but found it much more enjoyable giving rides in their two-seat dirt late model race car. After retiring from promoting racing, he raced with the ULMA dirt series.

Cowboy and his wife, Harriett, were the owners and promoters of the Midwest LateModel Racing Association for more than 16 years which is today known as LUCAS OIL MLRA. They were well-known for bringing the best dirt late model drivers throughout the United States right here to the Midwest, including prominent drivers Billy Moyer, Kenny Schrader, Terry Phillips and many others. They were proud to become a part of the Lucas Racing Family as they continued to work promoting the LUCAS OIL MLRA Series.

Having been raised on a farm near Warsaw, he enjoyed farming, fishing and hunting. He loved traveling and spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren.
