Funeral services were held Monday afternoon for Carsten Petersen at St. Paul's Lutheran church. Mr. Petersen died Friday night at Benthack hospital after six weeks illness from cancer.
Rev. W. G. Volker officiated. Rev. T.H.C. Schuldt, Fremont, assisted. "I Know That My Redeemer Lives" and "Abide With Me" were sung by Mrs. Albert Bahe, Mrs. Charles Miille, C. A. Bard and Robert Tanderup. Charlotte Ziegler accompanied them.
Pall bearers were Ben Lass, Ivan Fickle, Donald Hartman, Paul Baier, Ralph Carhart and Ed Larson. Burial was in Greenwood Cemetery.
Carsten Chris Petersen, son of Carsten and Dora Petersen, was born Sept. 4, 1891 at Blair. He came to Wayne county as a small child and became a member of St. Paul's Lutheran church. In 1913 he married Frieda Harms, who died July 4,1935. He remarried to Mrs. Pearl Kuhnhenn in 1942. He was employed by Carhart Lumber Company.
Four sons, three of whom died at birth, preceded him in death.
Mr. Petersen is survived by eight children and two step-children. They are Frank, Oxford, Merlin, Syracuse, Mrs. Frank Soukup, Mrs. Howard Dennis and Mrs. Leo Shade, all of Lincoln, Victor. Mrs. Walter Ulrich and Mrs. Arline Ulrich, all of Wayne. Harold Kuhnhenn, Joliet, Ill. and Ronald Kuhnhenn, Carroll.
Other survivors include a sister, Mrs. Fred Schult, Petersburg; three half-brothers, John Puls, Pilger, and Thomas and Harry Puls. Portland, Ore.; two half-sisters, Mrs. Frank Reinhold and Mrs. Fred Reinhold, Pilger, and 11 grandchildren.
