She was born at Fort Oglethorpe, Ga., daughter of Maj. John Joseph McManus, Jr. and Caroline Frances Furbish. She was a 1930 graduate of Brunswick High School along with her brother, Jack.
Her yearbook entry that year read: "Girls may come and girls may go, but Nancy's the same forever. Cool, calm, collected, clever and 'cussed Nancy.'" Following high school she briefly attended a nursing college in Boston.
On sept. 1, 1938 she married Donald Winston Ring in Brunswick. Mrs. Ring and her husband lived on Cherry Street. They were married for 43 years until Mr. Ring's death in June 1981.
Following her husband's death, Mrs. Ring cared for her mother until her death in July 1991.
Mrs. Ring moved to Hill House in North Bath in 1991.
Mrs. Ring was a good homemaker and a loving wife and mother, her family said. She enjoyed camping, boating, dogs, reading mystery novels and eating.
Surviving is a son, Dennis, who lives in West Bath.
A funeral service will be held at 9:30 a.m. Tuesday at Corliss Street Baptist Church, with the Rev. Andrew Sullivan officiating. Burial will be in Oak Grove Cemetery. Arrangements are by David E. Desmond Funeral Home.
