James W. Carr, “Jimmy", 76, of Vinton, died Wednesday, August 3, 1994, at his home.

He was an army veteran of World War II, and was past president of the Star City Classic Thunderbird Club. He was former vice president of Dixie Building Products and a past member of The Roanoke Valley Home Builders Association.

Surviving are his wife, Elizabeth “Ebbie" Snead Carr; three sons and daughters-in-law, Doug and Brenda Carr, Roanoke, Paul and Linda Carr, Vinton, Denny and Helen Carr, Charlotte, N.C.; eight grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; a brother, Walter W. Carr Jr., Roanoke; sisters, Kathleen Via and Ruby Rouse, both of Roanoke.

Funeral services will be conducted from Oakey's Vinton Chapel 11 a.m. Friday, August 5, 1994 with the Rev. Dr. William L. Ross officiating. Burial will be in Mountain View Cemetery. Friends may call at Oakey's Vinton Chapel.
