Nettie married Nathan Padgett at age 20. Her husband died young, and she was left with two daughters to raise. Her brother George supported her according to his statement on his World War I draft registration card. In the 1930 census he lived with her and his occupation was farmer. Nettie's daughter Corene and son-in-law were also living in the house in 1930. George was also living with Nettie in the 1940 census.
Nettie's funeral service was held at the Pleasant Mound Methodist Church. She was survived by her daughters, Mrs. Corene Engleman and Mrs. Mattie Belle Hicks.
