ROBERT WEBB ADAMS, SR., rate clerk for the Mobile and Ohio Railroad until his retirement a year ago, died at his residence on Bristol Highway at 2:05 o'clock yesterday afternoon following a long illness. He was 62. A native of Humboldt, Tennessee, Mr. Adams moved here after his retirement. He had been employed by the railroad for twenty-two years, having previously been in the grocery and hardware business at Humboldt, Tennessee. He was a Methodist and a member of the Brotherhood of Railway Trainmen.

Mr. Adams is survived by his wife, Mrs. Caroline Adams; a son, Robert, Jr., of Memphis, Tennessee; a brother, Guilford Adams of Humboldt, Tennessee; and two half-brothers, Claud Adams of Washington and Lloyd Adams of Humboldt, Tennessee.

Funeral services will be held at the grave in Humboldt, Tennessee at 2:30 o'clock this afternoon with the Rev. E. L. Robinson officiating. Arrangements are in charge of National Funeral Home. ~~~ THE COMMERCIAL APPEAL, Memphis, TN, Jan. 9, 1938, page 28
