Jane was the daughter of John Stephen and Ann Elizabeth (Fenhagen) Bean, both of St Mary's County MD. She married Benjamin Franklin Tippett at St Nicholas Church in St Mary's County on 1 Jan 1902. They moved to Baltimore City shortly afterwards. They had three children, Myrtle C, Mildred C, and Benjamin Norman.

Jane is buried in an unmarked grave at Oak Lawn Cemetery.
