U.S. Veteran William D. “Bill” Ellifritz, 59, of Rt. 4, Box 70-F, Keyser, WV, died Monday, June 30, 2003 at the Charleston Area Medical Center, Charleston, WV, from injuries sustained in a motorcycle accident a week earlier.
Born on February 15, 1944 at Keyser, WV, he was a son of Daniel Brady and Delphia J. (Reeves) Ellifritz.

Mr. Ellifritz was employed with the Anchor Glass Service with 31 years of service. A 1962 graduate of Keyser High School, he was a US Army veteran of the Vietnam War, having received a Purple Heart for injuries sustained in combat, the Bronze Star with Oak Leaf Cluster and the Air Medal. He was a member of the Grace United Methodist Church, Kelly-Mansfield Post # 52, American Legion, Piedmont, WV, Queen’s Point Memorial Post # 6775, VFW, McCoole, MD and the AmVets in Cresaptown, MD. He was also active with the Vietnam Veterans Association, the Vietnam Veterans Motorcycle Club and was a member of Lodge # 662, Loyal Order of Moose, Keyser.

Surviving is his wife of 38 years, Linda Jean (Davis) Ellifritz; one son, Todd William Ellifritz and wife Melanie of Keyser; two brothers, Daniel Brady “Junior” Ellifritz, Jr. and Kenny Ellifritz and wife Phyllis, all of Keyser; two sisters, Marlene Ellifritz of Keyser and Judy Taylor and husband George of Crownsville, MD. Also surviving are two grandchildren, Megan Yvonne Ellifritz and Matthew William Ellifritz and a large number of nieces and nephews.

Friends were received at the Smith Funeral Home, Keyser Chapel, on Saturday, July 5 from 1-4 & 6-9 p.m. Queen’s Point Memorial Post # 6775, VFW conducted a memorial service at the funeral home on Saturday at 7:00 p.m.

Funeral services were conducted at the Smith Funeral Home, Keyser Chapel, on Sunday, July 6 at 2:00 p.m. with Pastor James McCune officiating.

Interment was in the Potomac Memorial Gardens, Keyser. Graveside military honors were accorded.

Serving as honorary pallbearers were the members of the Vietnam Veterans Motorcycle Club.
