Samuel C. Cumming Jr. was born on September 30, 1927 in Sheridan, Wyoming and died peacefully in Fresno, California on April 23, 2014. Sam graduated from Davidson College in North Carolina. He served his country both in the US Marine Corps as well as the US Army. Sam moved to Kingsbrurg, California to teach the 6th grade at Roosevelt Elementary School. In 1957 he met the love of his life. The couple married in 1958 and later moved to Southern California where Sam taught elementary school and received his Masters Degree from the University of Southern California. They relocated to Fresno where he taught school for Fresno Unified for over 30 years. Sam's greatest pride was his family. He was a dedicated and loving husband, father, brother, grandfather and friend. Sam will be remembered for his deep love, commitment and service to God and we take comfort knowing he is with Him. Sam is survived by his wife, son, daughter, brother, and grandchildren. A Graveside Funeral Service will be held at Kingsburg Cemetery on Monday, April 28, 2014, at 11:00 a.m. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to Trinity Community Church, 12168 N.
