Melvin Leon Collins, age 72, of Harriet passed from this life Wednesday, April 23, 2014 in Yellville, Arkansas. He was born April 13, 1942 to the late Ernest Elvis and Laura Bell (House) Collins in Cozahome, Arkansas.

Melvin enjoyed working outside, fishing and just having someone to talk to. He worked in the log woods and at a sawmill.

He is preceded in death by his parents; sisters: Linda Collins and Viola Baker; brothers: Virgil Haynes and George Haynes.

Melvin is survived by one son: Robert (Polly) Collins of Harriet, AR; Two grandchildren: Ernie Collins of Harrison, AR and Amanda (Jamie) Horton of Marshall, AR.; five great-grandchildren: Kaylee, Timmy and Dakoda Collins of Harriet, AR and Mattthew and Cody Horton of Marshall, AR ; two sisters: Dorothy Myers and Nancy Sowells of Mountain Home, AR ; One brother: Henry Clay (Wanda) Haynes of Iowa.; one sister-in-law: Gladys Haynes of Illinois and many nieces and nephews. Other survivors include: Three daughters, five grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.

Memorial services for Melvin Collins will be 2:00 PM Sunday April 27, 2014 at Cozahome Church with Bro. Rick Watts officiating.
