Robert C. Hayes, 86, of Liverpool, passed away Wednesday, September 3, 2003, at the Syracuse VA Medical Center. Born in Syracuse, Mr. Hayes retired in 1980 after 10 years with Key Bank, Syracuse. He was former Vice President of U-AUTO Lease Company, President of Robert C. Hayes Brokerage and President of the Auto Dealers Credit. He was a 1939 graduate of Syracuse University where he received three different sports varsity letters. Mr. Hayes was the author of two books, "The Stonecutter" and "Money Isn't Everything". He was an Army veteran of WWII. His wife Josephine L. Hayes passed away October 24, 2002.
He is survived by: his daughter Christine Hayes of Liverpool; four sons, Michael C. Hayes of Liverpool, Robert L. Hayes of Dover, Delaware, Peter W. Hayes of Chittenango, and Andrew F. Hayes of Syracuse; seven grandchildren and a great-granddaughter.
Funeral services 7:15 a.m. Saturday at the Maurer Funeral Home and 8 a.m. in St. Joseph The Worker Church, 1001 Tulip St., Liverpool. Interment 3 p.m. Saturday in White Chapel Memory Gardens, DeWitt. Friends may call 6 to 9 p.m. Friday at the funeral home, 300 Second St., Liverpool. Contributions may be made to the American Heart Association, 5575 Thompson Road, DeWitt, NY 13214.
