He was born in Harrison County, Virginia (now WV at Midway near Good Hope), and died at Portland, Meigs County, Ohio. He married Sarah E, Joseph in Harrison Co., Virginia (WV) on 11 September 1819, with his father officiating. They were parents of 10, possibly 11 children: Joseph, Perry, Benjamin, John, Mary, Cassandra, Sarah, Jane, Nancy, and Frances, and possibly Nathan. Amos moved his family to Jackson Co., VA/WV before going to Ohio.
