Daughter of Eleazer and Abigail Harwood. Sister of Dr. Eleazer Van Ness Harwood. Wife of Amos Hitchcock, married September 4, 1838. After Amos' death she married Alexander Martin in October 1876, he died in 1877.

In "the Biography of Alexander Smith" by James H. Smith, pub. 1881, it is stated, "In October, 1876, Mr. Martin married the widow of Amos Hitchcock, and daughter of Eleazer Harwood. She was a cousin of his first wife, was born January 29, 1814. and is still living."
