Mr. Victor J. Hemphill, Jr., age 93, passed away Tuesday, February 26, 2013 at Sanctuary at the Oaks. He was born July 1, 1919 in Muskegon Hts. to Victor James and Zella Marie (Wolcott) Hemphill, Sr. Victor was a 1937 graduate of Muskegon Hts. High School. He married the former Marion Ruth Stough in North Carolina on February 3, 1943. She preceded him in death on January 11, 2007. He served in the U.S. Army Air Force during WWII and the Air Force Reserves until 1957 earning the rank of Captain. He was employed as a foreman at Shaw-Box Crane (Dresser Industries) retiring in 1982. Victor was a member of Temple United Methodist Church, was an avid bowler and also enjoyed golfing and fishing. SURVIVORS include: three sons, David B. (Sandra) Hemphill of Muskegon, Steven J. (LuAnne) Hemphill of Norton Shores and Eric J. (Leanne) Hemphill of Coopersville; six grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren. He also was preceded in death by one brother and three sisters. There will be no service or visitation at this time. He will be laid to rest in Sunrise Memorial Gardens. Arrangements by: The Lee Chapel 6291 S.
