Catherine Rose (Brocato) Bernard passed away peacefully on Sunday, August 11, 2013 on her 99th birthday surrounded by her loving family. She was born in Naples, Louisiana and was a long time resident of New Orleans and member of St. Dominic's Catholic Church. For the past nine years she enjoyed living in Springfield, VA and the loving care provided by her daughter, Cathy Gornak and husband George.
Rose was the beloved wife of her late husband, Paul C. Bernard. She was also loved by her son, Dale Bernard and spouse, Marirose; grandchildren David Gornak and spouse Ceclia, Nick Gornak, Steven Gornak, Edward Gornak, Susan Gornak Welsh and spouse Michael; Aimee Bernard McCarron and spouse Ross, Allie Bernard and Jean-Paul Bernard. Rose was also blessed and loved by great-grandchildren Michael and Joseph Welsh, Rachel and Tyler Gornak, Jess Gornak, Chelsea Gornak Danowit and spouse Jared, Heather Gornak and one great, great grandchild, Kylee Campbell. She is also survived by a sister, Mrs. Margaret Brocato Simmons of Baton Rouge.
Visitation will be Tuesday, August 20th, 2013 9:30 a.m.to 10:30 a.m. at Schoen Funeral Home, 3827 Canal St., New Orleans, LA, with a Funeral Mass at 10:30 a.m. Interment to follow in St. Patrick #2 Cemetery Mausoleum.
