Barry J. Winterbottom, 64, of Blackfoot, passed away Monday, April 21, 2014 at his home.

He was born November 30, 1949 in Blackfoot, Idaho, to Elmo and Ida Walters Winterbottom. He lived his entire life in Blackfoot, where he attended school at Blackfoot High School.

At the young age of 20, Barry enlisted in the United States Army from 1969-1970 and served in Vietnam war. He was awarded a Purple Heart for wounds received in action.

On September 3, 1972 he married Winona Galloway Edmo, in Elko, Nevada. They later divorced.

Barry started working as a laborer at Idaho Supreme in Shelley, Agriculture Services, Simplot Gaye Mine and INEL. After over 30 years he retired as a heavy equipment operator. Most of his work career was at the INEL.

He loved reading, fishing, hunting, listening to loud music and especially the times spent with friends.

Barry is survived by his daughters, Alisa (Dudley) Gubler of Blackfoot, Teresa (Edison Adakai Jr.) Edmo Winterbottom of Fort Hall, Sylvia (Jack) Brown of Waynesboro, Mississippi; Adra June (Alphonso) Ramos; nine grandchildren, Stevie Metz, Evan Metz, Elias Lindroth, Isiah Apodaca, Laine Eldridge, Alonzo Ramos, Javon Ramos, Derek Brown and Bronson Brown. 13 Great Grandchildren. Also surviving are his brothers, Reese (Emy Lou) Winterbottom, Abe (Rhea) Winterbottom both of Idaho Falls, Mike (Cheri) Winterbottom of Firth and sisters, Peggy Winterbottom and Judy Christiansen both of Blackfoot. Barry also had a wide extended family and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Elmo and Ida (Walters) Winterbottom and infant sister, Nancy Winterbottom.

Military services will be presented at 5 p.m. on Thursday, April 24, 2014 at Hawker Funeral Home, 132 S. Shilling Ave., Blackfoot. The family will continue to meet with friends and relatives following services until 8 p.m.
