MRS. VIOLA S. WELTY, 83, a former resident of Smithsburg, died Monday in the Washington County Hospital in Hagerstown. She had been recently residing at the Fahrney-Keedy Home in San Mar.
Born at Blue Mountain, she was a daughter of William R. and Amanda L. Hahn Carbaugh.
She was a member of the Hagerstown Bible Church and the Ladies Bible Class.
Mrs. Welty is survived by her husband, John N. Welty, also a resident at Fahrney-Keedy; a sister, Mrs. Leona Kendall, Waynesboro, as well as a number of nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held Wednesday at 2 p.m., in the Davis Funeral Home, Smithsburg, with the Rev. Gerald D. Carbaugh and Rev. Newton L. Poling officiating.
Burial will be in the Smithsburg Cemetery.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home this evening from 7 until 9 p.m.
