Anna Rhea (Bray) Murphey, 86, passed away on Wednesday, April 16, 2014, at Oklahoma City. Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Tuesday, April 22, 2014, at Maxwell Avenue Church of Christ, Ardmore, with Dr. Virgil Trout officiating. Interment to follow at 2 p.m. in Comanche Cemetery, Comanche.

Anna was born Jan. 25, 1928, to William Beryl Bray and Mae Elizabeth (Reeves) Bray at Houston. The family moved to Duncan when Anna was 4 years old. She attended Emerson Grade School, and graduated from Duncan High School.

Anna married Guy Ladell "Bud" McGowen on June 12, 1946, at Duncan. Their son, Michael Ray McGowen, was born on July 24, 1947 at Duncan. When Bud entered the Navy, the family moved to San Diego, Calif., for two years. Upon their return to Duncan, son James Patrick was born on Oct. 24, 1950. Anna worked for Carter County Abstract for a year when Bud was working for Rock Island Oil in Ardmore. From 1977 until 1985, she was the director of the Red Cross volunteers at Duncan Regional Hospital. Bud passed away on April 23, 1976.

Anna married Kenneth Lee Murphey on Aug. 24, 1985, at Ardmore, at Lake Murray Chapel. Kenneth retired from OG&E in 1987. The couple lived in Ardmore until Kenneth's passing in 2013.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband Bud in 1976; husband Kenneth in 2013; three brothers, Billy Beryl Bray, Bobby Reeves Bray and Glenn Harris Bray; and sister Lou Littig.

Anna is survived by her children, Mike McGowen and wife,Marian of Ardmore, Jim McGowen and wife Tamara of Dallas, Gloria Clark and husband W.O. of Ardmore, Larry Murphey and wife Lynn of Tyler, Texas, and Dennis Murphey and wife Margo of Lawrence, Kan.; grandchildren Marla Bleakley, Michael McGowen, Clint McGowen, Joann McGowen, Dylan McGowen, Wade Clark, Chris Clark, Michael Clark, Hayden Murphey, Colin Murphey, Lisa Saunders and Laurie Stone; brother Gene Bray of Edmond.

Family will greet visitors on Monday, April 21, 2014, from 6 until 8 p.m. at Griffin-Hillcrest, Ardmore.
