Prominent Business Man
Passes Away After Illness of Few Days
Andrew Jackson Airbeart, 57 years old, well known business man, and prominently identified with the civic development of Roanoke, died at a local hospital yesterday afternoon. Mr. Alrheart had been Ill only a few days. He Ilved at 420 Allison avenue, S. W. Born in Roanoke County, June 23, 1869, the son of John Willlam and Mary (Lucas) Airheart. Andrew Jackson Alrheart. at the age of seventeen, moved with his parents, to this city, where for a time, he attended Alleghany Institute. In his younger days he attended the county schools. At the close of two sesslons of the Alleghany Institute he accepted a position with the Roanoke Gas and Water Company. Two years later he went to work for the Philadelphia One-Price Clothtng House. Since that time he has been a factor in mercantile business firms,
In 1302 the firm of the Airheart-Kirk Clothing Company was incorporated with Mr. Airheart as prestdent and general manager. He was a past president of the Retail Merchants' Association and a member of the Roanoke Chamber of Commerce.
He has been prominently identifled with the Knights of Pythlas, the Odd Fellows, the Red Men, the Modern Woodmen, the Elks, and the Sons of Confederate Veterans, He also was a member of the Rotary Club and was aftiliated with the Dokkies. Surviving him are his wife and three children, Hazel and Madeline Airheart, and A. J. Afrheart, Jr.; one sister, Aliss Fannie Airheart, and one brother, W, E. Airheart, all of Roanoke,
