Della Collins
Della M. Collins, 105, Topeka, died Tuesday, June 18, 2002, at a Topeka retirement community.
Mrs. Collins owned and operated Collins Drive-In from 1931 until she retired in 1961. She also had worked for the telephone company in Ottawa prior to 1918. She and her husband owned and operated a photography business out of Sedalia, Mo., during the 1920s.
She was born Feb. 15, 1897, in Mountain Grove, Mo., the daughter of Jacob and Elizabeth Studer Andrews. She was raised in Ottawa and lived most of her life in Topeka.
Mrs. Collins was the oldest living member of First Baptist Church.
She married L.B. "Bert" Collins on June 22, 1918, in Ottawa. He died March 16, 1978.
Survivors include a daughter, Norma Sikes, Topeka; two granddaughters; and two great-grandsons.
Services will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at the First baptist Church Chapel. Burial will be in Mount Hope Cemetery. Mrs. Collins will lie in state at the Penwell-Gabel Funeral Chapel after 9 a.m. Friday.
