Kathleen A. Barnhart, 91, died April 17, 2014, at Hester Care Center. She was born February 2, 1923, in Hutchinson, to William L. and Elizabeth C. (Cain) VanZandt. Kathleen attended Partridge High School. She was a homemaker and was a secretary for Kenny's Electric for two years. She was a member of Union Valley Bible Church.
On December 16, 1941, she married Kenneth E. Barnhart in Hutchinson. They were married 72 years.
Other survivors include: husband, Kenneth; children, Kay Beck, Ron Barnhart and wife Sherry, Sue Stevens, and Bill Barnhart and wife Anita, all of Hutchinson; sister, Fauntell Swafford and husband Bob, of Emporia; eight grandchildren; 22 great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Kathleen was preceded in death by her parents, sons-in-law, Lyle "Sonny" Beck, and Duane Stevens, and sisters, Dorothy Guyer, Grace Huna, Wilma Geis, Thora (Jean) Olson, and Juanita Stone.
Funeral will be at 10 a.m. Saturday, April 26, 2014, at Elliott Chapel, Hutchinson, with Pastor Steve Hodgson officiating. Friends may call from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. Thursday and Friday with family to receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday at Elliott Mortuary, Hutchinson. Burial will be in Eastside Cemetery, Hutchinson. Memorials may be made to Hospice of Reno County, or to Union Valley Bible Church, in care of Elliott Mortuary, 1219 North Main, Hutchinson, KS 67501.
