Isaac E. Gentis, Jr. was born 8 Aug 1844 in German Township, Clark County, Ohio and died 13 Jul 1926. He married Sarah Ellen Barngrover on 28 Feb 1867 in Grant County, Indiana.

Isaac Gentis, Sr. was born 25 Apr 1811 in German Township, Clark County, Ohio and died 12 Nov 1897 in Grant County, Indiana.

He was buried in 14 Nov 1897 in Thrailkill Cemetery. He married Sarah Ellen Watts on 21 Apr 1836 in Greene County, Ohio.

Note that both the father and son and their wives have the same initials.

I believe both Frederick Ellsworth Gentis (4 Nov 1871-28 Dec 1875) and Gracy (14 Sep 1881-11 Oct 1881) belong to Isaac, Jr. and his wife, Sarah Ellen Barngrover.

I'm searching for any first source record that confirms this, but it's a bit tricky, when both father and son and their wives have the same names. Isaac, Jr. and his wife were still actively building their family when Frederick and Grace were born.

The photograph, taken on the farm of Daniel Gentis (Isaac, Jr.'s brother) and Margaret (Frazier) Gentis was taken by Daniel's grandson (Sarah's son), Verdie D. Gentis. It comes from a collection of glass plate negatives of photographs Verdie took around 1910. A new set of photographs were printed from the negatives in 2003.

The farm was just north of Chewelah along Burnt Valley Road in Eastern Washington. Burnt Valley had a school at the time, but I'm not sure it'd be considered a town. I think settlement is probably an appropriate word.

There were two photographs taken of Isaac and Sarah on their visit in the collection of negatives.
