GEORGE CARPER, 83, DIES AT HOSPITAL - Funeral Rites for Resident of Auburn Community for 43 Years will be Conducted at 2 p.m. on Friday
George W. Carper, Rt. 3, Auburn, died at 5:50 p.m. Tuesday in Sacred Heart hospital, Garrett, following an extended illness. He was 83.
His death was attributed to a complication of diseases. He had been in failing health for one year and was admitted to the hospital early Tuesday.
The body was removed to the Dilgard & Cline funeral home in Auburn for burial preparations. It will remain at the funeral home until it is removed at noon Friday to the Missionary Church in Auburn.
Funeral rites will be conducted at the church at 2 p.m. Friday. Officiating will be the Rev. J. Harlan Wright, pastor of the church. Burial will be in Roselawn cemetery near Auburn.
Mr. Carper was a resident of the Auburn community for 43 years. He resided on a farm two and one-half miles west of Auburn.
A native of near Seymour, Ill., he was born Aug. 12, 1872, son of the late Phillip and Harriet Cresap Carper.
His first wife, Sarah, died in 1921. On March 10, 1923, he married Mary E. Beatty (sic) Webb, who survives. Also surviving are three children from his first wife, Lawrence Carper of 344 West Eleventh street, Auburn; Mrs. Gladys Warstler of near Auburn and Myrle Carper of Coldwater, Mich.; nine children born to his second wife: Mrs. Dorothy Rimmel, Bronson, Mich.; Mrs. Mary Jane Bruce, Brimfield, Ind.; Forrest Carper, 1105 West Ensley avenue, Auburn; Floyd O. Carper, Park Ave., Auburn; George Jr. Carper, Bronson; Donald L. Carper, 204 East Clinton street, Auburn; Leo R. Carper, Rt. 3, Auburn; Mrs. Shirley Bolyen, Rt. 3, Auburn, and Miss Bonnie Carper at home; 2 stepsons, James E. Webb, Rt. 3, Auburn and Alvin Herrick, Marion, Ind.; a brother, U. S. Carper, Seymour, Ill.; two sisters, Mrs. Ann Doble, Ottumwa, Ia.; and Mrs. Clara Powers, Hardy, Mont.; 34 grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren.
He was a member of the Missionary church, Auburn.
Mr. Carper was a retired farmer.
