Born at Sophia on Aug. 31, 1927, he was the son of the late Noah Adams and Mary Lucy Hopkins Adams.
Mr. Adams was a member of Gospel Chapel at Daniels and was a retired coal miner. He was a member of the UMWA. He was a U.S. Navy World War II veteran.
Rev. Adams was preceded in death by his wife, Dorla Dean Adams; a son, Terry Lynn Adams; a brother, Austin Adams; and sisters, Lola McKinney, Grace Proffitt and Mary Thompson.
Surviving are sons, Carl W. Adams Jr. and wife, Sherry, of Beckley, Michael Adams of Dale City, Va., the Rev. Dean Adams and wife, Paula, of Daniels and Gary Adams and wife, Pam, of Daniels; a daughter, Brenda Gail Grear and husband, the Rev. Lonnie Grear, of Beckley; a brother, Donald Adams and wife, Lola, of Taney Town, Md.; sisters, Bertha Rowe of Colonial Beach, Va., and Janet Cox of Soak Creek; nine grandchildren; and 15 great-grandchildren.
Service will be 11 a.m. Friday at Rose and Quesenberry Funeral Home, Shady Spring Chapel, with the Rev. Luke Richmond, the Rev. Dean Adams and the Rev. Lonnie Grear officiating. Burial will follow at Blue Ridge Memorial Gardens, Beckley.
Friends may call 6 to 9 p.m. today at the funeral home.
Pallbearers will be C.W. Adams III, Jeff Adams, Timmy Adams, Thomas Bowers, Gary Lee Adams Jr., Bobby Lee Adams, Christopher Martin and Billy McClanahan.
