Obituary - Avanell Jane Jones, 81, of Aurora passed away at 9:35 p.m. Sunday, April 13, 2014 at Sonshine Manor in Republic. She was born January 12, 1933 in Aurora, the daughter of H. S. and Bernice (Moore) Bellis. Avanell was a 1951 graduate of Aurora High School and a member of Orange Cumberland Presbyterian Church. She was also a member of the Lawrence County Area School Personnel; she worked as a secretary with the Aurora Schools for 33 years and retired in May of 1998.
On August 22, 1951 she married Minford Jones in Eureka Springs, Arkansas. He preceded her in death on May 20, 2009. Her sister, Doris Means, and her husband, Homer, her brother-in-law, Tom Clark, and a sister-in-law, Mary Lee Elsey, also preceded her in death.
She is survived by her son, Rick Jones, of Monett; her daughter, Renee Rogers, and her husband, Roney, of Republic; four grandchildren, Eric Jones and his wife, Kalley, of Webb City, Alan Jones of Joplin, Rhonda Sorensen of Ozark, and Kurt Rogers of Branson; four great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; one sister, Joyce Clark, of Spring, Texas; one brother, Dale Bellis, and his wife, Dorothy, of Aurora; and a host of nieces and nephews.
A funeral service was held at 10 a.m. Friday, April 18 at the Crafton-Cantrell Funeral Home with burial at Orange Cemetery.
