Clemens Oscar Klein, 91, of Fredericksburg and formerly of Comfort, died Wednesday, April 9, 2014, at Knopp Healthcare and Rehabilitation Center.

Arrangements and cremation were under the direction of Schaetter Funeral Home.

Klein was born Jan. 1, 1923, in Gillespie County, the son of Christian Klein and Emma Franciska Mosel Klein.

He joined the United States Army on Jan. 14, 1941, at Fort Sam Houston, and was discharged Aug. 12, 1945, with the rank of Private First Class.

On March 4, 1946, Klein joined the United States Navy and was discharged on Jan. 8, 1948 with the rank of Seaman First Class.

Klein worked as a veterinary assistant.

In addition to his parents, Klein was preceded in death by four sisters and five brothers, including Cora Margaret Lang, Meta Louise Klein, Mabel Lena Roach, Betty Rita Koenig, Chester Klein, Lee Klein, Harvey Klein, Eugene Klein and Harry Theodore Klein.
