Bursting of Blood Vessel in Head and Heart Trouble Given as Cause of His Death
This community was shocked last Sunday morning when it became known that Henry K. Klunder had died at his home in this city at a few minutes past midnight that morning.
Mr. Klunder was in his usual health up to almost the moment of his death. Saturday evening he was up town visiting with his friends, and retired about eleven o'clock. A little past midnight Mrs. Klunder heard a queer noise coming from him and she tried to arouse him, but could not and a doctor and near neighbors were summoned. He passed away, however, within about five minutes.
There was every indication that a blood vessel had burst in the head and this together with heart complications are attributed as the cause of his sudden and unexpected death.
... Mr. Klunder was a native of Germany and had he lived until Sept. 12th next would have been 64 years of age.
He came to America when a boy and located in Grundy county and has lived in this county ever since. He followed farming until about eight years ago when he moved to town.
Besides a wife he leaves four sons and one daughter by a former marriage, namely; Menno and Ned on the home farm; Daniel and Herman, who are working at farming, and Susie, who lives with her grandfather, Daniel Meester, in the northwest part of the county. There are also three brothers and three sisters; Ben, living in South Dakota; Theo., living north of town, and Fritz, near Beaman; Mrs. Claus Coners, Butterfield, Minn.; Mrs. Sophia Renken, Fern; Mrs. John Zimmerman, northeast of this place.
Mr. Klunder was a man of kind integrity, a good neighbor and a kind friend and as such was held in high esteem by all who knew him.
