John W. OVERMYER, 73, died at 8:15 p.m. Wednesday at his home near Monterey after a long illness.
Born in Pulaski county on May 10, 1885, he was the son of Russell and Alice SMITH OVERMYER. He was a member of the Modern Woodmen Lodge of Oak Glen, Ill.
Surviving are the widow, the former Grace COOPER; three sons, Neil [OVERMYER], Hammond, James [OVERMYER], Highland, Ind., and Robert [OVERMYER], Lansing, Ill.; four daughters, Mrs. Mary WARD, Lansing, Mrs. Leona ENGEL, Culver, Mrs. Viola TIMBERG, Harvey, Ill., and Mrs. Gerald DECKER, Monterey; twenty-six grandchildren; fifteen great- grandchildren; two sisters, Mrs. Della PRINCE, Niles, Mich., and Mrs. Catherine REED, New Carlisle; two brothers, Kenneth [OVERMYER], Homewood, Ill., and Fred [OVERMYER], Lansing.
Three daughters preceded him in death.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Saturday in the Easterday funeral home at Culver with the Rev. Claude KEISER officiating. Burial will be in the Hartz cemetery near Monterey.
