David was born November 26, 1953 in Parkersburg, W.Va, a son of the late Forrest J. and Mary June Cain Shelene.
He worked for the WV State Auditor, Glen Gainer as a Field Representative.
He is survived by his wife of 40 years, Kim Louise Miller Shelene; one son, Steven David Shelene of Vienna; one brother, Kevin Michael Shelene of Vienna.
In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by a sister, Shawneen J. Fitchett and a niece Maddison Fitchett.
Burial will be in Riverview Cemetery in Williamstown, W.Va
