Services for Mrs. Esther Barnes Head, 78, of 926 Maryland Ave., who died Wednesday in an airplane crash in Bamiyan, Afghanistan, will be private, the Rev. Harold L. Hutton officiating. Burial will be in White Chapel Memory Gardens, DeWitt.
She was the widow of Harley G. Head, who died in 1966.
Born in Indiana, Mrs. Head resided in Syracuse 49 years. She was a graduate of Denison University and the University of Michigan, Ann Arbor.
She was a member of St. Paul's Cathedral and of the Daughters of the American Revolution.
Surviving are a son, Truxton H. Head of Rochester; a daughter, Mrs. Harriet Head Schwazer of Cazenovia; 11 grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
There will be no calling hours.
Local arrangements are by the Garfield Funeral Home, 515 Westcott St.
