WEIRTON - Lelia M. Beatty, age 86, of Weirton, passed away Friday, Feb. 18, 2005, at the Weirton Medical Center.

She was born Sept. 19, 1918, in Louisa, Ky., a daughter of the late Cecil and Cora (Carter) Chafin. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Shirl G. Beatty, Sr.; one brother, Lonnie Chafin; one grandchild; and her daughter-in-law, Vickie Beatty.

Lelia was a homemaker; a member of the First Baptist Church of Weirton; the Order of the White Shrine of Jerusalem; the Independent Order of Odd Fellows Star of the Valley Rebekah Lodge 73; the AARP Weirton Chapter 2788; and the Order of Eastern Star.

Lelia is survived by one son, Shirl Beatty, Jr. of New Manchester, W.Va.; two daughters, Dorothy Jenkins and her husband Omar and Monnie Mack and her husband Harry, all of Weirton; three brothers, Cecil Chafin, Jr. and his wife Evelyn of Weirton, Roy Chafin and his wife Alice of Alabama and Andrew Chafin and his wife Mary of Weirton; one sister, Roberta Hawkins and her husband Robert of Ohio; five grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.

Visitation will be Monday from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. at Greco-Hertnick Funeral Home, 3219 Main St., Weirton, where funeral services will be held 10 a.m. Tuesday. Pastor David Fink will preside. Graveside services will be held at Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens, Weirton.
