Born Aug 27, 1930, in Birmingham, Michigan, he moved to Alpena after living in Detroit for a short period of time with his wife, Christena Merrill. To this union were born 6 children, five girls and one boy. On Dec 24, 1968 he married Lois Zolnierek in Harrisville. They had one daughter. He was employed as an electrician at Huron Portland Cement Co for 30 years. During the last 10 years, he was self-employed. He was a member of Alpena Elks Lodge No. 505 and a past exalted ruler.
Surviving are his wife; six daughters, Sandra and Carol of Texas, Debra of Clare, Betty of Florida, and Kristy and Lisa both of Alpena; 16 grandchildren and 3 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by a son, Dale in 1992 and a granddaughter, Jennifer in 1994, 4 brothers, Robert, Lewis, William, Norman and 2 sisters, Betty and Frances.
Cremation arranges were handled by the Bannan Funeral Home. An Elk's service will be held Thursday, June 6 at 6:30p.m. followed by a memorial service at 7, with Rev. James Kendziorski officiating. Both services will be held at the funeral home.
