SALEM, Va. Dennis Elton Christian of Salem, passed away at his home on Tuesday, February 25, 2014, at the age of 75. He was preceded in death by his parents, Charlie and Grace Christian of Chilhowie. He is survived by his wife, Norma; son, Butch and wife Donna; son, Rob and wife Tracy; grandchildren, Philip, Chad, Andrea, and Michael; sister and brother-in-law, Sue and Earl Dolinger of Chilhowie; sister, Betty Peake, of Atkins; sister-in-law, Barbara Russell of Bristol; uncle, Luther Palmer of Virginia Beach; special family friend, Jerry Holcomb of Matthews, N.C. Dennis was from Chilhowie, Va. He was married to his loving and devoted wife of 55 years, Norma. He proudly served in the United States Army as a military policeman. Dennis moved to Salem, in 1965, and he began work at the Purex Corporation and was there until 1988. He later started Professional Auto Towing and Service. Dennis was extremely proud of his grandchildren and granddogs. The family will receive friends from 1 until 2 p.m. Saturday, March 1, 2014, at Williams Funeral Home in Chilhowie. Graveside services will follow at 2:30 p.m. in the Middle Fork Cemetery with the Rev. Wesley Eller officiating. Condolences can be made to the family online at www.williamsfuneralhomeofchilhowie.com.
