Died - In Schenectady, Sept. 17th, Cornelia Scudder, widow of the late Rev. J. D. Fonda. Times (Troy, NY), Saturday, September 26, 1868

The first American medical missionary to India was Dr. John Scudder (Cornelia's brother), who went to Ceylon (now Sri Lanka) in 1819, and later to India. (J. T. Aitken et al 1984:125).
