Herman was the son of Danish immigrants, Ole and Mette Madsen. He was on of 7 children, 6 survived to adulthood. He had 3 brothers and 2 sisters. He married in 1918 to Mable Florence Johnson at Mitchell, Davison Co, South Dakota. They had three children, all girls. Herman was a Pentecostal Minister. He founded over 20 congregations in California. Most of these still exist today. His parents and siblings all have cyber graves here.
