George Ambers Canaday, 45, of Springfield, Massachusett, formerly of Beckley, died at 6 p.m. Saturday in Springfield after an apparent heart attack.

Born May 11, 1928 at Surveyor, he was a son of Dicie Thompson of Glen White and the late Charles Canaday.

A veteran of World War II, Canaday was a member of the American Legion and was employed by Walker Mill Works at Springfield, Massachusett.

Survivors include his wife Patty Jo Lovell Canaday; two sons, George Jr of Chicopee, Massachusett, and Thomas of Springfield; a daughter, Cordellia Pomroy of Springfield; three brothers, Cecil of Prosperity, Waymon of Skelton, and Wilmer of Crab Orchard; a sister, Mrs. June Bailey of Springfield; and four grandchildren.

Funeral services will be conducted at 1 p.m. Wednesday in the Rose and Quesenberry Peace Chapel with Reverend Harvey Todd officiating. Burial will follow in Canaday Cemetery at Glen View.

Frineds may call at the funeral home from 7 until 9 p.m. Tuesday.

Pallbearers will be Darrell and Richard Lovell, Roger and Kelly Dillon Jr, and Carlos and James Canaday.
