Baptist minister. As "Rev. Pontus Frantzen", he was the title subject in his daughter Thyra Ferré Bjorn's bestselling autobiographical books, "Papa's Wife" and "Papa's Daughter".

Born in Kräcklinge parish, Falkenå, Sweden. Surname is sometimes spelled Ferre.

Son of Anders Nilsson and Lotta Ersdatter. Married Maria Wickman, 22 Jul 1903. Eight children, including Thyra Ferré Bjorn. The family left Sweden in order to get a better education for the children, and arrived in the United States on 7 May 1924.
