Ann Lavina Wohlford Manthei passed away in Hayward, Wisc., on April 10 at the age of 93.
She lived a full, happy life and spent the last week of it with all five of her daughters as well as grandchildren and great-grandsons.
Ann lived most of her life in Minnesota, growing up with three sisters and her brother.
She married her high school sweetheart, Leo Manthei, and after he returned from World War II, they moved to Blackduck, Minn., where he was the game warden for 22 years.
She was the "Avon Lady" for 20 years and also wrote and took pictures for the newspaper.
She was active in the Garden Club, golf club, and St. Ann's Catholic Church.
After his retirement they purchased a home in Wickenburg, and after a few years of being snowbirds, they moved to Wickenburg full time.
She was always a very active woman, enjoying fishing, hunting, golfing, skating, playing cards, dancing, swimming in "her" pool at Westpark, and was a devoted member of the Catholic Church.
Her greatest joy was her family ... her husband of 64 years, her five daughters, her 10 grandchildren, and 15 great-grandchildren.
Her last two years were spent at Water's Edge Assisted Living in Hayward, Wisc., where she was able to have frequent visits from family and was the first to hold her newest great-grandson when he was born in January.
Ann will be remembered as a feisty red-headed Irish woman with a great sense of humor, warm and loving personality, who was always ready to "deal 'em' out" for a game of cards, a round of golf, or fishing at the "golden hour."
In later years, she was usually found with a crochet hook in hand -- making colorful "Scrubbies" that she loved to share with anyone who came to visit.
She is survived by her daughters Ann Guerin (Mick) of Wickenburg and Helena, Mont., Eileen "Chi" Manthei of Wickenburg, Mary Gensen (Reagan) of Menomonie, Wisc., Terri Fuller (John) of Hayward, Wisc., and Laurel Ridlon (Tony) of Hibbing, Minn.; 10 grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren.
Her ashes will be returned to her beloved Arizona and a memorial Mass will be offered at at later date.
She was loved ... and she will be missed.
