Mary Lou Childs, 84, passed away on Wednesday evening July 3, 2013, at Hickory Creek Nursing Home in Connersville. A daughter of the late Dewey Irvin and Irene (Stewert) Gibbs, Mary was born in Fayette County on July 11, 1928. Mary has lived most of her life in the Richmond community and was a member of the First United Methodist Church there. When she was younger she worked for Gaar Nursery in Cambridge City and later in life did private home care for children and the elderly. Survivors include five brothers, Jim (Judy) Gibbs, John Gibbs and Donald Gibbs, all of Connersville, Dewey (Mae) Gibbs of Cambridge City and Gail Gibbs of Richmond; one sister, Alice Price of California; nieces and nephews. Mary was preceded in death by her husband, Paul Lamont Childs, and a brother, David Gibbs. Public graveside services will be held at 11 a.m. on Monday at the Zion Lutheran Cemetery in Pershing. The Rev. Steve Earlywine will officiate. The Marshall & Erlewein Funeral Home, Dublin has been entrusted with the arrangements.
