Mrs. Scroggins was born May 28, 1935 in Lufkin, Texas, the daughter of the late Clara (Clayton) and Joel Columbus Parish. She passed away Sunday, April 13, 2014 in a local hospice facility.
Mrs. Scroggins was the youngest of five children and the first one born in a hospital. She was named Betty after the maternity nurse. Her childhood was spent in the Huntington community and after marrying moved to Lufkin, where she resided until her passing.
Survivors include her daughters and sons-in-law, Cindy and John Phelps and Teresa and Mike Canino; granddaughter and husband, Stephanie and Brian Ray; grandson and wife, Michael and Laurie Phelps; grandson and girlfriend, Jeremy Barber and Chana Miller; great-grandsons, Connor Ray, Kelton Ray and Brant Barber; sister, Leona Buvinghausen; brother-in-law and wife, Harold and Bettie Scroggins; and numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and special friends.
In addition to her parents, Mrs. Scroggins was preceded in death by her husband, Robert Scroggins; great-grandson, Adam Barber; brothers and sisters-in-law, James and Justine Parish and Don and Frances Parish; sister, Billie Housen; brother-in-law, Bill Buvinghausen; and sister-in-law and husband, Frances and Frank Gibson.
