He was born Aug. 9, 1909, in Casey County, Ky., the son of Robert and Elizabeth Long Coffman. He married Ferol Chaudoin and later Hazel Brooks. He married Mildred Ogg on Dec. 10, 1968, at Decatur. She survives.
Also surviving are his children, Thomas William (Barbara) Coffman, Dayton, Texas; Robert Lee Coffman, Houston, Texas; James Leonard (Sharon) Coffman, Normal; Karol (Lamont) Woodworth, Bloomington; Lynette (Fred) Argabright, Aurora, Colo.; William J. (Beverly) Menken, Bloomington; and Patricia (Henry) Deavers, Heyworth; a sister, Edith Mae (Carrollton) Crutchley, O'Fallon, Mo.; 15 grandchildren; and several great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren.
His parents, one grandson and three sisters preceded him in death.
