DEATH OF MRS. ROSE SHANNON
Mrs. Rose Shannon, daughter of Mrs. S. S. Arnold, of this city, died suddenly at her home in Chicago on Monday morning, Nov. 8, 1909. She had been suffering for some time with a cancer, but death was due to a stroke of paralysis.
The remains were brought to Chariton Tuesday night, and yesterday afternoon, at two o'clock, funeral services were held at the Arnold home, conducted by Rev. Webster Hakes, rector of St. Andrew's Episcopal church, assisted by Rev. Dr. Lathrop, of the M. E. church, after which interment took place in the Chariton cemetery.
Rose Arnold was a daughter of Mr. and Mrs. S. S. Arnold, and her girlhood days were spent in this county. She was married in English township to J. G. Shannon, who died about three years ago. They resided in Dillon, Montana until the death of Mr. Shannon, since which time the family has lived in Chicago.
Mrs. Shannon is survived by four children, Harry, Charles, Ralph and Lucile, and by her mother, two sisters and one brother. The sisters, Mrs. Alice Russell, of Kalamazoo, Michigan, Mrs. F. R. Crocker, of Minneapolis, Minn., and brother, Harry Arnold, of Pecos, New Mexico, were unable to be present at the last sad rites.
Deceased was quite well known in Chariton and had many friends here who will learn of her death with deep regret, and who will extend heartfelt sympathy to the sorrowing relatives.
